12 Days Left — The Briefing: The Playbook They Ran Overseas, Explained for the Folks at Home‼️
I took an oath in the United States Air Force to support and defend the Constitution. I’ve hauled freight across this country for years, and I rode with the People’s Convoy to Washington, D.C. So when a friend on X told me her parents and their friends would never hear about this story because “ABC will not be airing this — ever,” I figured that’s my job. This one’s for the folks who get their news at six o’clock.
No tech talk. No scare stories. Just what’s been released, what it appears to show, and what you can do about it with 12 days left until Tuesday, November 3.
What Is the “Democracy Files”?
A researcher on X who goes by DataRepublican has been releasing a large collection of recorded video calls and documents. She calls it “The Democracy Files,” and her newest thread is titled “The Illegitimacy Playbook: A Primer.” She says she has backed up the material, about 312 gigabytes of it, in several places and shared it with others. That thread has been seen more than 170,000 times in its first few hours.
Who Is on the Recordings?
According to the recordings DataRepublican released and her description of them:
- Renew to Thrive (R2T). A group in which Danielle Reiff and Paul Zeitz play key roles. Reiff is described in coverage as a former USAID official who spent years working on “democratic transitions” in other countries.
- National Security Leaders for America. A network of former military, intelligence, and diplomatic officials led by retired Rear Admiral Michael E. Smith.
In plain English: these are people who used to work for our government, some of them helping manage changes of government overseas.
What Were They Talking About?
If the tapes show what they appear to, these folks discussed a list of “redlines“: events that, in their view, would mean the federal government had become “illegitimate.” One of the most discussed, according to DataRepublican, is a president invoking the Insurrection Act against protesters.
DataRepublican also says the recordings show the idea was shopped around to governors. On one clip that Senator Mike Lee shared, a speaker says that if the federal government is deemed illegitimate, “the governors become the leading governing authority.” The same speaker says, “No one is talking about leaving the United States.”
Senator Lee’s reaction is worth repeating: he said he hopes it turns out to be a deep fake or a bad joke, “because if it’s real, it’s unbelievably frightening.”
Straight Talk: What We Know and What We Don’t
Patriot Roster calls balls and strikes, so here it is:
- The recordings have not been independently authenticated in anything I’ve read. That matters.
- The people named deserve to answer for themselves. If they respond, I’ll report it here.
- The descriptions are DataRepublican’s. I’m quoting her account and the clips others have shared, not making claims of my own about what anyone intended.
But here’s what doesn’t need a fact-check: the idea itself. Under our Constitution, no group of retired officials, nonprofits, or anybody else gets to decide when an election counts or when the national government stops being legitimate. That call belongs to the voters. Article VI makes the Constitution “the supreme Law of the Land,” and every governor in America swore an oath to support it.
Why It Should Matter to You
I didn’t swear my oath to a party. I swore it to the Constitution. Whoever you vote for, you should want the same rules for everybody: you win at the ballot box, you lose at the ballot box, and you change things through elections, the courts, or a constitutional amendment.
When I was on the road with the Convoy, we parked our rigs, filed our permits, and made our case in the open. That’s how Americans disagree. A plan built around declaring a “crisis of legitimacy” skips the people entirely, no matter which side tries it.
How to Explain This to Grandma in One Minute
“Some former government officials were recorded talking about a list of events that, in their view, would make the federal government illegitimate, and about getting governors on board. The tapes haven’t been verified yet. But under our Constitution, only the voters get to make that call, and that’s why we need to vote on November 3.“
Your 12-Day Action Plan
- Join the Roster. Sign up at patriotroster.com so you get the next briefing without needing X.
- Share with three friends. Print this, email it, or read it to someone over the phone. Pick the people who will never see it on X.
- Vote November 3, or earlier if your state allows. Check your registration and early-voting dates at vote.org or your Secretary of State’s site. If you vote by mail, send it back now.
- Ask your governor where they stand. One simple question, in writing: Will you uphold the Constitution and the results of lawful elections, win or lose?
Bottom Line
If the tapes show what they appear to, Americans deserve answers. If they don’t, we’ll say so. Either way, the answer is the same: the Constitution, the ballot box, and citizens who show up.
Twelve days. Vote carefully, vote all the way down the ballot, and bring three.
Wake up. Show up. Stand up.
